Advantages of Hydroseeding your yard
Have you ever driven on an interstate or byway that has recently been excavated? These days, instead of seeing hay matting, you may see a bright blue covered ground. What is this? It is hydroseeding, a fairly new technology that has been used since the 1940s. It was invented by Maurice Mandell in Connecticut— you can read more about the history here.
Advantages of Hydroseeding:
Hay and seeding jobs are often not as effective.
Matting is also expensive.
Much less mess for the customer because with hydroseeding there is no hay and straw blowing around.
Hydroseeing pellets cause the grass seeds to implant and grow more quickly and more evenly.
It also grows on slopes better.
It retains and bonds better with the ground, so it gives you better erosion protection.
It’s easier to put fertilizer in to hydroseeded ground because you get better coverage when you can mix in the fertilizer with the hydroseed pellets.
It looks more professional when done.
Potential Drawbacks:
It’s harder to get the hydroseeding equipment into small spaces
Hydroseeding is more expensive due to the higher level of technology and equipment required.
